Physical Examination

The doctor will conduct a physical examination to look for abnormalities that indicate CAD. This examination may be done with the patient in different positions (e.g. standing, sitting, on hands and knees) and might include:

  • measurement of blood pressure, pulse, breathing rate and temperature
  • listening to the heart, lungs, pulse at different locations on the body
  • physical examination of the neck veins and the chest wall, sometimes with tapping and listening
